mysql error - #144 - is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed

It turned out that this cannot be solved by a bug fix.

The repair code modifies the index file while it is going. If it is interrupted by a
kill, it leaves behind a corrupted table.

This could in theory be solved by backing up the index file and work on a new file
instead. But this is a major change in behaviour, which we don't intend to do at the
moment.

I am deeply sorry that I cannot do better but quote the fine reference manual:
"Warning: Killing a REPAIR TABLE or OPTIMIZE TABLE operation on a MyISAM table results
in a table that is corrupted and unusable. Any reads or writes to such a table fail until
you optimize or repair it again (without interruption)."
(http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/kill.html)

installing the Adobe Flash Plugin in freebsd

summary - comments show that there are a lot of problems installing adobe flash on freebsd

Download current Flash Player releases

• 10.2.159.1 (Windows, Mac, Linux, Solaris)

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer.html

the adobe help searches are so outdated 2006-07-08
http://community.adobe.com/help/search.html?q=freebsd+flash&lbl=0&hl=en_US&lr=en_US&self=1&area=0

This is so outdated . The FAQ is still not updated from 7.X
The Adobe® Flash™ plugin is not available for FreeBSD. However, a software layer (wrapper) for running the Linux version of the plugin exists. This wrapper also supports Adobe Acrobat® plugin, RealPlayer® plugin and more.

According to the version of FreeBSD you run various steps are required:

Under FreeBSD 7.X

Install the www/nspluginwrapper port. This port requires emulators/linux_base-fc4 which is a large port.

The next step is to install the www/linux-flashplugin9 port. This will install Flash 9.X, this version is known to run correctly under FreeBSD 7.X.

Note: On FreeBSD versions older than FreeBSD 7.1-RELEASE you have to install www/linux-flashplugin7 and skip the linprocfs(5) part below.

changing your default char set from latin1_swedish_ci to utf8_unicode_ci

I found many takes with the wrong collation . A lot of sites found in google were NOT helful.
myphpadmin was the most helpful . you have to run an sql query for each table

or you can try to run it for the whole database

ALTER DATABASE `foo` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci; (this did not work for me)

what worked was

ALTER TABLE `wp_bb_meta` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci;

ok just doing that much DID NOT fix the problem . you need to open each table and look at each field

for non buddy press installs
ALTER TABLE `wp_commentmeta` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci;
